New technologies are acquiring much importance nowadays and consequently, it has become a part of our lives. We use a range of programmes or apps every day with different proposals: social, educative, entertainment...
In this lesson we have read and reflected about one article called digital residents. Firstly, I would like to stand out the amount of time we spend online and the things what involves. And secondly, the role of the English language in relation to social networking.
The world of education gets the effect on the rapid changes of ICT, so education now has to adapt with the ICT.
There are some advantages of using social networking in education including in English language learning. For instance, if we liked our students to speak in English, we could organize some networking activities with native English speakers.
In accordance with (Shujie Wang, 2012) quoted in http://akhmadriyantoblog.wordpress.com/2013/08/03/advantages-and-disadvantages-of-social-networking-in-english-language-learning/
“They do not have to go to the country where the mother tongue of English is, they just connect to the internet and interact with people from English speaking countries. And they do not need to meet physically. Improving the efficiency of class teaching, English teaching can make the lessons more effective and efficient.”
As a part of my conclusion, I would like to say that even I have some useful apps in my mobile phone and helpful tools in order to improve my English, I consider I don’t know a lot about the digital devices and programmes, so as a result I would like to investigate more on the subject of it for my future as a teacher. Furthermore, I would like to explore more web educational pages to be able to put in practice with my pupils.
And finally, I have learnt a little bit more about the integration of the technology in class.
